DETAILS In 2020, OtherPowers worked with UNHCR to vision, design & launch UNHCR’s R4V platform & refuge-facing app. R4V is an multi-NGO collaboration platform connecting thousands of participating global organizations (such as RedCross, Doctor’s without Borders, UNICEF) with UNHCR-coordinated global supplies, teams & resources.

R4V provides critical goods & services to over 7 million displaced persons and at-risk communities in Venezuela and surrounding countries.

Just after launch, the platform OtherPowers designed with UNHCR quickly became re-purposed to serve as an emergency COVID-response & global disaster coordination platform. R4V is now actively used by 18 federal governments, across a number of humanitarian crises & human rights efforts.

CONTRIBUTION Visioning-to-launch (0-1 MVP), ENG/UX/Product Management & DEI infused Strategy. Built full Desktop platform, internal Ops Tools & Database for multiple global NGOS with paired mobile app for on/offline displaced-persons & communities in-need.

Collaboration with UNHCR: OtherPowers Team Katie Bush (Strategy/PM/UX), Anders Howerton (ENG) visioned & developed the 0-1 MVP in 7 months in partnership with UNHCR.
